Leadership in Finance
On June 10 and 11, Alex van Groningen and CFO Magazine organized CFO Day 2009. We can look back at a very successful event, where we have welcomed a record number of guests, who took part in 22 round table and/or open break out sessions.
After many conversations and meetings with CFOs, content experts from our partners and professors from universities, we have chosen for Leadership in Finance as the main theme for CFO Day 2009, with the following sub themes, which were fully integrated in the different plenary presentations and subsessions:
• Strategic alignment: How can CFOs secure alignment between the organization and its strategic ambitions?
• Business alignment: How can the Finance function effectively support business management?
• Operational/professional excellence: How can key figures in Finance be guided by the CFO to achieve professional excellence?
• Leadership competencies: Which skills and qualities do powerful and successful CFOs possess?
Featured keynote speakers were Theo de Kool, CFO Sara Lee Corporation; Jim Lawrence, CFO Unilever; Joop Wijn, Board Member Transition Team Designated Managing ABN AMRO and Thomas H. Davenport, President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology & Management Babson College. Mainly because of their interesting presentations about leadership, CFO Day 2009 has become a huge success.
We congratulate Rolf-Dieter Schwalb, Jack de Kreij and Pieter Verboom with winning the CFO of the Year Awards 2009.
